SOFTWARE PLANNER 6.05 FEATURES
CONFIGURABLE EMAIL ALERTS
A Customizable Web Solution for Managing Software Projects
Pragmatic
Software Company announced new enhancements to Software Planner version 6.05 (http://www.SoftwarePlanner.com), the latest version of a customizable web solution to track software
defects and manage the software development life cycle.
"For over 6 years, Software Planner has aided companies in managing all
phases of the software lifecycle, including requirements management, defect
tracking, test case management, file sharing, and project and team management",
said Steve Miller, President of Pragmatic Software. "The new features of
the software are fueled by client suggestions, as they enter these suggestions
into our electronic Suggestion Box. A common suggestion was to provide
customizable email alerts, where email alerts can be triggered upon specific
rules.", adds Miller.
Customizable Email Alerts
The latest version of Software Planner greatly improves collaboration
between team members by providing clients with the ability to trigger email
alerts based on rules. For example, quality assurance (QA) team members
may want to receive an email when a bug (or defect) is changed to a resolved
status. By automatically receiving an email, the QA team knows as things
are resolved without the programming needing to call them to let them know.
The customizable email alerts allow clients to define their own custom alerts,
based on a variety of rules. Alerts can be set when items are updated, or
when they are updated to specific values. Alerts are also available when
items are assigned to a specific person or sent to the owner of the item when
someone makes changes to items they own.
Defect and Test Case Linkage
Software Planner allows QA teams to create test cases. If a
test case fails, a defect can now be automatically generated (if desired),
saving the QA staff time needed to manually create the defect. All
pertinent information is automatically entered, and a linkage is established
between the defect created and the test case that failed. This allows the
programming team to review the original test case that identified the defect.
Defect Security
Prior to version 6.05, security administrators could specify that
a security group did not have the rights to close and assign defects. With the
new release, this is separated, so that a security administrator can separately
define whether a user group has rights to close defects -or- whether a group of
users has rights to assign defects.
Software Planner is offered as a monthly subscription starting at $ 60 per
month (2 concurrent users), as well as a
scalable enterprise solution that can
handle thousands of simultaneous users and can be branded and tailored to exact
client needs.
